TAAL Calls for Randy Fine’s Exit Over Anti-Armenian Hate

Statement from Truth And Accountability League (TAAL)

TAAL Calls for Randy Fine’s Resignation Over Anti-Armenian Hate

The Truth And Accountability League (TAAL) unequivocally condemns Congressman Randy Fine for declaring, “We don’t want Armenians in Congress.” Such hateful, exclusionary rhetoric is disgraceful, dangerous, and wholly incompatible with the duties of public office. No elected official should be deciding which ethnic or religious communities are worthy of representation in American democracy.

Armenian Americans have enriched this nation in every field, including public service, business, education, medicine, journalism, law, the arts, and the armed forces. They belong in Congress, in city halls, in boardrooms, in classrooms, and in every profession and institution in the United States. To suggest otherwise is an affront not only to Armenians, but to the very principles of equality and opportunity that define America.

It is the height of hypocrisy for a lawmaker who routinely prioritizes the interests of a foreign government to claim Armenian Americans are somehow unfit to serve their own country in Congress.

Mr. Fine’s remarks are made even more hypocritical by his well-documented alignment with the Azerbaijani regime, his support for weapons sales and policies that facilitated the Artsakh Genocide, and his indifference to the suffering and forced displacement of Armenians. For someone who has shown such disregard for Armenian lives abroad to now attack Armenian Americans at home reveals the true nature of this prejudice and Armenophobia.

This is not an isolated incident. Congressman Fine has repeatedly trafficked in inflammatory, divisive, and offensive rhetoric targeting other communities, including Black Americans, Muslims, Arabs, Hispanics, LGBTQ+ people, and others. Such a pattern demonstrates contempt for the diverse fabric of our nation and disqualifies him from serving honorably in Congress.

TAAL calls on Republican Party leadership nationally, the Republican Party of Florida, and the House Republican Conference to act immediately and demand Randy Fine’s resignation. Silence in the face of bigotry is complicity.

We also call on Democratic and Republican leaders alike, civil rights organizations, faith leaders, and all people of conscience to denounce these remarks firmly and without equivocation. Hate against Armenians is hate. Armenophobia, racism, and bigotry against any minority are attacks on all minorities.

America is strongest when all communities are represented, respected, and protected. There must be no safe harbor for racism, xenophobia, ethnic hatred, or Armenophobia in our halls of government. Randy Fine should resign.
